Abu Ayyub al-Masri

ALIASES/NAME VARIANTS: Abu Hamza al-Muhajir

REMARKS: Abu Ayyub al-Masri is the last remaining original member of the Mujahidin Shura Council in Iraq and remains a central figure in al-Qa‘ida in Iraq. Abu Ayyub is an Egyptian national who served as Abu Mus‘ab al-Zarqawi’s senior operational coordinator and arranged the first meetings between Ansar-al-Islam commander Umar Baziyani and al-Zarqawi.
