So, what is terrorism and counterterrorism? Beaker the Eagle

Terrorism is the use of force against people or property to create fear and to get publicity for political causes.

Counterterrorism is our way of responding to acts of terrorism. Counterterrorism is not specific to any one field or organization; rather it involves people from all levels of society. For example, local police and fire fighters have plans for dealing with terrorist acts. Building a counterterrorism plan involves all parts of a society and many government agencies.

What do we do to defeat and deter terrorism?

First and foremost, we serve as the main center for all intelligence related to terrorism. This includes information on all known and suspected terrorists and terror groups. We are responsible for making sure that all other organizations that need this information get this information.
